TRUTH AUDIO TA-1P
June 2005—Truth Audio's (www.truthaudio.com) TA-1P ($998/pair) comprises two 5-inch mineral-filled polycone woofers and a tuned chamber, 1-inch cloth-dome tweeter. Response is rated at 48 to 20k Hz. The power handling capability for this rear-ported passive monitor is rated at 160W continuous into 4 ohms. All rear panel connectors are gold plated.
TRUTH AUDIO MONITORS
November 2002—Unveiled at last month's AES were new versions of Truth Audio's entire line of studio monitors. All are two-way designs based around dual woofers flanking a 27mm coated-Sonotex cloth-dome tweeter. Truth monitors are available in unpowered passive (“P” suffix) or active (“A” suffix) versions with onboard amplification. All of Truth's active monitors have recently been upgraded with amplifiers that have more robust linear power supplies for greater reliability. The TA-1P ($599) and TA-1A ($1,149) have twin 5-inch woofers in a rear-ported cabinet. The TA-2P ($899) and TA-2A ($1,399) have twin 6.5-inch woofers in a front-ported enclosure. The flagship TA-3P ($1,149) and TA-3A ($1,699) sport two 8-inch woofers and are designed for mid-field use. Also new—and shipping now—is the TA-SW12A, an active subwoofer with a single 12-inch woofer, available in powered form only for $1,649. Truth monitors are priced singularly, and various surround package pricings are available.
TRUTH AUDIO TA-2A
October 2002—New Truth Audio powered monitor following the successful TA-1 and TA-3 Series, features dual 6.5-inch drivers and a soft-dome high-frequency driver. Also available in a passive model.
TRUTH AUDIO TA-2A/TA-SW SURROUND SYSTEM
December 2001—Now handled through Wave Distribution, the TA-2A from Truth Audio is an active mid-field design with two 8-inch polycone woofers and a 1-inch, cloth-dome tweeter offering a frequency response of 25 to 20k Hz. Power is via a 530W internal amp, yet each monitor weighs just 60 pounds. Retail is $1,499.50 each. The speaker is also available as the TA-2P (passive), an unpowered version that's $749.50. The optional TA-SW active powered subwoofer features a 12-inch driver, internal 250W amp and a frequency response that ranges from 32 to 160 Hz (sweepable). The sub is designed to work with either the active or passive TA-2s in 5.1 and 6.1 applications.
