KRK SYSTEMS R6 MONITORS
April 2009—Taking its cues from KRK's Rokit line of speakers, the new R6 ($149 each) passive studio monitor features five-way speaker binding posts and a precision crossover, and can handle 100 watts (RMS) of power. The R6 voicing is designed to mimic the voicing of KRK's Rokit 6 monitor, and leverages KRK's research and development into baffle design and fabrication. The curved front baffle minimizes HF diffraction, promising a sweet spot that is significantly larger than what is possible with products with square or lightly rounded baffles. The baffle's molded front-facing bass port is designed to reduce LF phase distortion and unwanted frequency emphasis typical of rear-facing bass ports.
KRK SYSTEMS ROKIT G2 SPEAKERS
July 2008—KRK's Rokit G2 speakers are the second generation of the company's Rokit speakers, and replace the current 5, 6 and 8-inch Rokit models. The Rokit G2 speaker incorporates several technologies from the company's flagship VXT and E8B lines, including radically radiused edges along the front of the cabinet. The Rokit G2's curved front baffle was engineered to minimize diffraction of high frequencies for a larger sweet spot. The baffle also houses a molded front-facing bass port that minimizes low-frequency phase distortion and the unwanted frequency emphasis that is common in rear-ported designs. Rokit G2 models have MAP prices of $149, $199 and $249 for the 5, 6 and 8-inch versions, respectively.
KRK VXT
June 2007—The new VXT Series monitors from KRK feature proprietary drivers; a curved faceplate; low-resonance, ABS structural foam cabinet designs; extended low end; and slotted ports to reduce port turbulence. All are two-way designs with a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter. Weighing in at 28 pounds, the VXT8 ($799) has an 8-inch Kevlar woofer and 180-watt amp; the VXT6 (25 pounds, $599) features a 6-inch Kevlar woofer and 120W amp, while the VXT4 (11 pounds, $399) has a 4-inch Kevlar woofer and 90W amp. Standard are integrated Omni Mount supports for wall mounting, XLR/TRS combo inputs, shielded cabinets, and high- and low-frequency adjust switches on the VXT6 and VXT8.
KRK SYSTEMS ROKIT POWERED SERIES
June 2005—Priced from $299 to $599 each, KRK's Rokit Powered Series comprises the RP-5, RP-6, RP-8 and RP-10S. The RP-5, 6 and 8 are active two-way designs, while the RP-10S is a powered subwoofer. Driver complements include 5, 6 and 8-inch glass-aramid composite woofers and 1-inch neodymium soft-dome ferrofluid tweeters. Power is supplied by 75, 100 and 140W bi-amped systems. The RP-10S uses a 225W powered 10-inch high-excursion woofer. The V Series 2 monitors include the $1,399 V12S powered sub and the V4 ($499 each), V6 ($699 each) and V8 ($999 each, pictured) — all active two-way designs. Driver complements include 4/6/8-inch Kevlar woofers and 1-inch soft-dome tweeters. Power is supplied by 90/120/180W bi-amped systems. The V12S uses a 12-inch high-excursion Kevlar woofer mated to a 250W amplifier. TO READ THE REVIEW, CLICK HERE
KRK SYSTEMS V SERIES II
October 2003—KRK introduces the next generation of its award-winning V Series line of professional studio monitoring products. In addition to all of the existing features, the new V Series II monitors feature a defeatable limiter circuit, clip/limit LED indicators, auto-on/off circuit and a new waveguide design that improves off-axis response. Also improved are sensitivity and SPL due to better driver/amplifier integration.
KRK ST6/ST8
October 2003—KRK's low-cost ST6/ST8 are unpowered, compact near-fields, with 6.5- or 8-inch DLDA aluminum woofers, 1-inch silk-dome tweeters and mag shielding as standard. The ST6 has a 62-20k Hz (±2dB) response and 100-watt handling; the ST8's response is 52-20k Hz (±2dB) and handles 120 watts.
KRK SYSTEMS M118
October 2002—The M118 active three-way studio monitor can easily handle the workload of most other dual 15-inch cabinets and still not lose the bottom end. Perfect for post-production, CD mastering and more, the monitor is mounted in wall or freestanding. Power amplifiers are not included. Drivers: Woofer: 18-inch, high-strength, paper-impregnated cone; Midrange: 7-inch Kevlar cone; Carbon-ring diaphragm tweeter (loaded by a symmetrical horn). Frequency response: 19 to 20k Hz, ± 2 dB. Amp requirements: LF 1,000 watts @ 8 ohms; MF 450 watts @ 8 ohms; HF 250 watts @ 8 ohms.
KRK SYSTEMS EXPOSE E12DSP
October 2002—The E12DSP is a complete and refined active three-way system, featuring low distortion, incredible imaging and increased power handling. From its digital crossover to the Kevlar cones and titanium dome, the KRK signature sound is truly apparent. Drivers: Woofer: 12-inch, high-strength paper-impregnated cone; Mid: 5-inch Kevlar cone; Tweeter: 1-inch titanium-inverted dome. Response: 29-22k Hz, ± 2dB. Amplification: HF 120 watts @ 8 ohms; MF 200 watts @ 8 ohms; LF 400 watts @ 8 ohms.
KRK SYSTEMS V88/S12 SURROUND SYSTEM
December 2001—Now distributed by Stanton Magnetics, KRK Monitors offers a range of speaker/subwoofer combinations. One such system includes five V88 monitors ($799 each) and one S12 subwoofer ($999). The bi-amped, video-shielded V88 houses a 160W amp for the low end and a separate 60W amp for the tweeter. Each speaker uses a 11/4-inch polymer tweeter dome, an 8-inch woven Kevlar bass driver and offers gain and HF/LF controls. The S12 sub sports both vertical and horizontal internal braces, a 12-inch woven Kevlar woofer and 160W amplification. KRK has also just released a surround package, the company's 5.1 Orbit Surround Pack ($1,749). TO READ THE REVIEW, CLICK HERE.
KRK SYSTEMS EXPOSE E8Di
June 2000—KRK’s Exposé E8Di monitors use an IEEE-1394 FireWire interface with DSP-based crossover and equalization software to eliminate phase errors and improve the monitor’s overall accuracy and dynamic range. The first such monitors to incorporate FireWire technology, the E8 includes a 1-inch inverted-dome Kevlar high-frequency driver and an 8-inch Kevlar woofer. The bi-amplified monitor provides 120W to the HF driver and 160W to the LF driver. Maximum SPL is rated at 114 dB for music and 123dB peak. MSRP: TBD.
KRK SYSTEMS SURROUND SYSTEMS
March 1999—KRK introduces three new 5.1 monitor configurations based around the company's Expose E7, E8 and V8 speakers.
