FAR OBS
November 2002—The FAR Audio (www.far-audio.com) OBS is designed specifically for remote vans, broadcast facilities and editing rooms. This powered, mag-shielded two-way speaker has a 5.5-inch woofer and 1-inch soft-dome tweeter, with a high-power, low-distortion amplifier and Butterworth passive crossover. Frequency range is 60 to 22k Hz; maximum output is 112 dB SPL (two cabinets @ 1 m). Dimensions: 10x9x7 inches; weight is 13.2 pounds.
F.A.R. TSUNAMI-10
October 2002—The Fundamental Acoustic Research Tsunami-10 combines a clever design and a great sound. The triple-layer front baffle places a resilient material between two 22mm MDF slabs to eliminate unwanted vibrations. Sophisticated internal bracing locks the entire enclosure into a single, nonmoving block, and a huge rear port reduces air compression and lowers distortion. A 10-inch woofer, 1-inch soft-dome tweeter with symmetric waveguide, 220 watts of onboard bi-amplification and an optional remote control complete the package.
