BLUE SKY EXO DESKTOP SYSTEM
September 2007—Blue Sky's EXO ($399, www.abluesky.com) active desktop speaker system comprises two 3-inch, two-way satellite speakers that are 35 watts and 8×5×5 inches (H×W×D), with 1-inch tweeters, a separate 8-inch subwoofer that is 90W and 13.8×12×13 (H×W×D), and a desktop remote control and connection hub. The sub carries the amplifiers and bass-management circuitry for the system, while the hub allows the user to input and monitor an assortment of peripherals simultaneously via XLR/TRS, RCA and 3.5mm mini-jack inputs. The hub allows separate volume control of the sub and main speaker set, and has a 3.5mm mini-jack headphone output.
BLUE SKY SAT 12, SUB 15
November 2006—In addition to being quite the mouthfuls, the SAT 12 three-way, 500-watt, tri-amplified mid-field monitor and the SUB 15 Universal 1,000W subwoofer are the latest products out of the box from Blue Sky International. The SAT 12 features a 12-inch high-excursion hemispherical woofer; a 4-inch hemispherical, midrange driver; and a 1-inch dual-concentric diaphragm tweeter. The three drivers are powered by two 200W amplifiers and a 100W amplifier, respectively. To integrate with the SUB 15 Universal and Blue Sky's BMC (Bass Management Controller), an 80Hz highpass network with phase-correction filter is included. The SUB is a sealed box using a 1-inch forward-firing driver, and offers a switchable low-frequency response characteristic. The rear panel carries dual inputs: one for bass-managed operation and the other for use without the SUB. Rear panel controls also feature switching for “full-space” or “half-space” operation, along with individual HF, MF and LF level trims, two switchable input attenuators and a variable gain control. Prices: $7,500 (2.1) and $15,795 (5.1). TO READ THE REVIEW, CLICK HERE.

A Big Blue system partners three-way, tri-amplified SAT 12 satellites with a 1,000W SUB 15 Universal subwoofer to deliver full-range mid-field monitoring. The 500W SAT 12s use a 12-inch high-excursion hemispherical woofer, an ultralow-distortion 4-inch hemispherical midrange driver and a 1-inch dual-concentric diaphragm tweeter with integral wave guide for superior off-axis response. The SUB 15 Universal is a sealed-box design built around a massive 15-inch forward-firing driver.
BLUE SKY SAT 12/SUB 15
March 2006—Blue Sky used the nearby Disney production studios to demo its Blue Sky SAT 12/Sub 15 studio monitors.
