ALESIS PROLINEAR SERIES
June 2005—Alesis' (www.alesis.com) ProLinear Series is available in two configurations: the 720DSP ($449 each) and 820DSP ($549 each). Both incorporate 24-bit/48kHz, 28-bit I/O DSP processing and include 4-band parametric EQ with eight presets and eight user programs, and a PC serial port for use with the included Windows DSP/control software. Audio inputs are XLR/¼-inch Combo jacks. All are 120W bi-amplified designs (80W LF/40W HF), and the frequency response for both models is 50 to 20k Hz (±1.5 dB). The 720DSP has a 7-inch Kevlar woofer (8-inch on the 820DSP); both have a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter and are mag-shielded.
ALESIS M1 ACTIVE MK2
June 2005—The Alesis M1 Active MK2 ($299/pair) is a two-way, bi-amplified design using a 6.5-inch carbon-fiber woofer and a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter with ferrofluid coolant; both are shielded. The dual-ported enclosure has a Combo XLR/¼-inch jack with an input level control. Frequency response is rated at 38 to 23.5k Hz, -10 dB.
ALESIS PROACTIVE 5.1
July 2004—The Alesis ProActive 5.1 ($499) is an affordable, THX-approved 5.1 system. The 450-watt ProActive 5.1 system includes four 65W satellite monitors with a 69W center speaker, a 188W powered subwoofer and the Digital SoundTouch Control Center with wireless remote. The SoundTouch controller has a LCD status screen and offers built-in Dolby Digital and DTS hardware decoding, gain control and much more. On the rear of the unit, source inputs include digital optical, digital coaxial, 6-channel analog direct inputs and a stereo analog input.

ALESIS PROLINEAR 720 & PROLINEAR 820
December 2003—New from Alesis are the ProLinear 720 and the ProLinear 820. The 720 sports a 7-inch LF driver and the 820 has an 8-inch LF driver, powered by an 80W amp in both cases. Both are mag-shielded models with a 1.25-inch HF driver powered by a 40W amp. The DSP handles the crossover tasks and enables speaker emulation and modeling via equalization, with eight factory and eight user presets. RS-232 serial ports are provided on each speaker for daisy-chaining and connection to a computer. Via this mechanism, up to 16 speakers can be controlled by a single computer. An LCD on the front of the speaker provides visual operation information.

October 2003—This bi-amplified, pro studio reference monitor with DSP control features built-in digital crossover and 4-band parametric EQ with eight presets and eight user-defined settings; 24-bit/48kHz processing; a serial interface allows PC control of up to 16 speakers; 80 watts (LF)/40 watts (HF); 7-inch woven Kevlar woofer; and a 1-inch, silk-dome tweeter.
ALESIS PROLINEAR 820DSP
September 2003—The new 820DSP from Alesis features an 8-inch Kevlar woofer and a 1-inch, silk-dome tweeter powered by an 80-watt and 40-watt amp, respectively. The monitor features adjustable digital parametric EQ that can be altered onboard via the built-in LCD or from a computer. ALESIS M1 ACTIVE
June 2000—Housed in a ported cabinet, the M1 Active Bi-Amplified Reference Monitors use an eighth-order active crossover and custom-designed dual amplifiers. Designed to provide fast transient response in the low-frequency range while maintaining detail in the upper-mids, the 6.5-inch cone woofer is formulated from carbon fiber. The 1-inch silk-dome tweeter has Ferrofluid cooling, and a time-alignment circuit in the crossover’s tweeter section allows the frequencies from the high and low drivers to occur in sync. The speaker has a 75-watt woofer amp and a 25W tweeter amp. Alesis also offers the $599 companion S1 Active Subwoofer. MSRP: $649 per pair.
