AVLEX SUPERLUX E531/BCS
September 2007—The battery-powered E531/BCS ($49) M/S stereo field microphone from Avlex (www.avlex.com features a cardioid polar pattern for its mid-section and a figure-8 polar pattern for the side. The mic offers control over the stereo image during mixdown and is powered by a single 1.5V AA battery that is capable of providing upward of 200 hours of use. It also provides an on/off switch to help users maintain the battery when the unit is not in service. The E531/BCS comes with a microphone stand clip that supports ?-inch and ?-inch threads, plus a foam windscreen.


AVLEX SUPERLUX S241/U3
February 2007—It's a bird, it's a plane — no, it's Avlex's Superlux S241/U3 condenser mic ($250), featuring interchangeable capsules, a 3-position attenuation pad and a 3-position low-cut filter. The gray-finished S241/U3 offers a bump in the high end, making it optimal for instrument recording. It ships in a sturdy plastic carrying case and comes with the HM-40 shock-mount clip, S-09 foam windscreen and the HM-43 pop filter. An optional phantom power adapter is available for those needing to power the mic in the field.


AVLEX DV75
July 2005—The DV75 ($90) from Avlex employs a neodymium element to produce high output and a frequency response tailored to vocal reproduction. A cardioid polar pattern rejects off-axis sound, and an integrated filter reduces vocal popping. Frequency response is 50 to 18k Hz; impedance is 250 ohms.

March 2005—A front-address mic designed for studio/broadcast vocals, the AVS77 from Avlex includes an integrated foam windscreen and a swiveling U-bracket stand mount for ease of placement.
