Musictech Becomes McNally Smith

Musictech College in St. Paul, Minn. celebrates its 20-year anniversary this year with a new name, a new European campus and several new program advancements. Adopting the name of college founders Jack McNally and Doug Smith, Musictech officially became McNally Smith College of Music on January 1, 2005.
In sync with the name change, McNally Smith received authorization from The National Association of Schools of Music to offer an accredited Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance and has applied to the State of Minnesota for approval.
“The four-year accreditation in music performance is a major step forward for the college and a distinction we have been working toward for several years,” says Jack McNally, president of McNally Smith College of Music. “A bachelor degree not only symbolizes our growth as a force in music education, it strengthens the credibility of our uncommon, hands-on approach.”
McNally Smith also opened their college of American popular music in Europe last fall, located at the Media Docks in Lübeck, Germany.
The college offers an International Music Business Program with top instructors from the college’s U.S. campus and select leaders in the European music industry. Students at McNally Smith Europe also have the opportunity to study at McNally Smith U.S., and vice versa.
The U.S. McNally Smith campus recently added an all-digital 32-track Pro Tools studio, equipped with a Digidesign Control 24 and Pro Tools|HD workstation and offering a main tracking room with two iso booths.
With the help of a number of promising new and talented students at McNally Smith College of Music, both in the US and Europe, the college is now offering a successful student-run record label. This label will be run completely on the strength of its students. Beginning June 1, 2005, the school will also have their own Internet radio station, accessed via a hyperlink from the college’s Website, www.mcnallysmith.edu.
