SOLID STATE LOGIC MATRIX
May 2008—Furthering SSL's (www.solid-state-logic.com) reach into the affordable studio market, the Matrix ($25,995) 16-channel, 40-input mixing console with built-in signal router and digital workstation control has dual summing inputs, stereo digital I/O, dual stereo buses, four mono and one stereo aux sends, and additional returns. Other features include LED and VU meters; 16+1 bankable, motorized faders; and four-layer DAW control via Ethernet. Matrix offers an integrated, recallable, 32×16×16 analog routing matrix, Mac/PC software for platform-independent project management and routing control, and effects chains and routing setups to simplify patching outboard units through the router. Monitoring options include dual-monitor outputs, artist monitor output with independent EQ/source selection, three external monitor inputs with source summing and a front panel iJack input.

September 2007—Solid State Logic is shipping its Duality console/DAW controller, with recent deliveries going to Alicia Keys' The Oven Studios in New York and Atlanta's PatchWerk Recording Studios. SOLID STATE LOGIC C100 HD
September 2007—On the digital console front, SSL has rechristened its C Series digital broadcast consoles to C100 HD and C300 HD, while doubling the possible fader inputs to 512, adding MORSE routing capabilities and updated Century processing, and incorporating the workstation control from the company's AWS Series. Another launch is the C100 HD-S, essentially the C100 HD with an identical feature set but in a smaller footprint console designed for space-limited installs, such as small control rooms and trucks, packing 64 faders into a frame that's less than 92 inches. With the new V. 4 software, the C100 HD consoles support a high-density processing engine and control surfaces with access to up to 256 fully featured input channels and another 256 short-channel premix inputs, with fader control, panning and mono/stereo/surround busing.
SOLID STATE LOGIC C300 HD
September 2007—Designed for film/TV production, the upgraded C300 HD from SSL is a scalable (8 to 96-channel, multi-operator-capable) solution, with more than 500 mix inputs and 80 mix buses (all with DSP) from a single Centuri processor. It also offers flexible DAW control and full multiformat surround monitoring. Other C300 HD features include an enhanced 96kHz feature set, tri-level sync support, optional PEC/direct switching, EQ and dynamics libraries, pull-up/down sample rate handling, advanced multi-machine control and more.
SOLID STATE LOGIC C100 HD-S
June 2007—Designed specifically to fit in tight spots, SSL's C100 HD-S (priced per configuration) digital broadcast console promises an enhanced feature set and a significant boost in processing power. The “S” and its larger brother, the C100 HD, also feature the Centuri HD-S, a new, smaller front-loading processor option. The C100 HD-S supports direct control of a DAW via HUI protocol, and features a new low-cost MADI interface and up to 512 fader inputs. The new Version 4 software package supports a high-density processing engine and control surfaces, with access to up to 256 fully featured input channels with full processing capabilities and up to 256 additional short-channel “premix” inputs with fader control, pan capabilities, and access to mono, stereo and 5.1 submix (utility) buses. The C100 HD-S comes in 24+8 fader to 64+8 fader sizes that are expandable in 8-fader increments.

SSL C300
September 2006—Now shipping, SSL's C300 draws on the innovations of the C100 and C200 line, but in a post configuration for one/two-operator versions, with a channel count expandable from 128 to 512 and up, and HUI DAW support. Meanwhile, SSL expands the capability of its C100 digital broadcast board with MORSE (Modular Resource Sharing Engine). The system has modular I/O, stage boxes and router hardware, allowing for an extremely dense concentration of audio I/O and router matrices for simple to large-scale applications. Optional PC control software manages asset ownership for smooth workflow. For the C100, SSL also offers a new IFB Master Channel for fast, direct access to multiple comm buses.
SSL C300 DIGITAL CONSOLE
November 2005—Once relegated to the fossil section of the Natural History Museum, big consoles are back. New company co-owner Peter Gabriel was at AES to help launch the C300, SSL’s digital console for fast, assignable sweetening and mixing. Previewed in last month’s Mix, the C300 includes multiple layers of DAW control in a scalable package that can range from 16 to 128 faders controlling up to 512 channels/80 buses and up to three-operator configurations. June 2005—With more than 100 AWS 900 consoles sold, SSL used NAB to show its new automation system, dubbed AWSomation. But with the emphasis on broadcast and post, the company spent a lot of time showing Version 2 of the C100 broadcast board, now with touchscreen panning, and V. 3 of the C200, which now takes advantage of the DAW control integration first shown on the AWS 900.
SOLID STATE LOGIC AWS 900 TOTAL RECALL
February 2005—This new feature brings pro-level recall to SSL's AWS 900 console. Total Recall scans all rotary controls and mechanically latching switches, including the channel controls, central bus controls and external returns. All electronically latching switches, such as channel bus and dynamics routing, can be automatically reset, as can the positions of the motorized faders. Recall setups can be stored in the host workstation as MIDI System-Exclusive data, providing maximum integration and compatibility with the host platform, while retaining the project and setup data in a single file system. Price: $4,495.

June 2004—Mindful of the growing DAW controller market, Solid State Logic unveiled its AWS 900, a 24-channel desk that uses the same components as its XL 9000 K Series consoles. The 8-bus, $85,000 list board is to be sold through GC Pro dealers and includes control of various DAW platforms and plug-ins, as well as a serious analog console with 24 mic preamps, switchable E/G Series 4-band parametric EQ, assignable dynamics, moving faders and more. October 2002—This compact-configuration Avant console package—designed specifically for short-form post (SP) applications—has new control surface features, allowing up to 192 mix inputs to be controlled from a 16-fader console. External workstations can be controlled and edited without leaving the surround listening sweet spot. Combined with Avant's integrated nonlinear automation and comprehensive surround monitoring, the SP package can produce commercials with ease, yet still cope with drama-scale productions when the opportunity arises.

SOLID STATE LOGIC AYSIS AIR PLUS “SC”
April 2002—Solid State Logic intros the Aysis Air Plus SC, a specially configured version of the Aysis Air Plus digital broadcast console designed for stereo and 5.1 surround mixing. Offering broadcasters a cost-effective transition to digital broadcast capability, the Plus SC has a traditional 32-fader/channel strip design (expandable to larger formats), comprehensive reset functions and built-in redundancy. SSL also announced MT Version 6, which ships as standard on the MT Production and MT Plus digital mixers, adding automation and processing features, with new channel and main bus dynamics options designed to give the sound and feel of traditional analog processing.

September 2001—Solid State Logic has introduced the Avant Plus Post & Film Console. Based on a discrete knob-per-function design, the all-digital control board includes SSL's new HS Control Processor, which allows multiple six or eight premix channels to be stacked beneath individual premix master faders; all session settings are stored and recalled by project. The SuperGrouper™ feature links multiple sets of rotary, switched and fader-driven controls across the console. An integrated TFT LCD allows operators to configure the 64x8 programmable monitor matrix for multiformat source selection. Virtual Paddles™ provide paged access to 48 track/record enables from any of eight assignable paddle keys, while surround panning may be controlled with a pen and tablet. Available in a range of frame sizes and input channel configurations, Avant Plus can be configured to support multiple operators.
SOLID STATE LOGIC MTP
August 2001—Solid State Logic has introduced the MT Production (MTP) Digital Console. Based on SSL's MT Plus in-line digital console, the MTP features comprehensive control grouping, snapshot/reset capabilities, flexible subgroup busing and full multiformat surround sound capabilities. Featuring SSL's new HS Control Processor, the MTP has an in-line mixing architecture with simultaneous multichannel surround sound outputs. The configurable panning and output bus structure allow the 12 main mix buses to support two simultaneous but different output feeds, with both in 5.1 surround format. The NiTECH Super-Pre A/D input stage exceeds the performance of the SL 9000 J Series console. The new INFO Faders give visual and mechanical feedback of null points, and an alphanumeric display shows grouping, automation and system status. The system accepts an SVGA video input, and MTP users can access external workstations directly from the console's surface.
SOLID STATE LOGIC "PLUS" & MT PRODUCTION
June 2001—At NAB, SSL added a “plus” to its console line, showing new, expanded models including the Aysis Air Plus broadcast production board, the Avant Plus post/film mixer and the MT Plus music production console. All “Plus” designations feature INFO faders, TFT LCD display and SSL's HS control processor. The latter offers a powerful (and intuitive) high-speed operating environment (said to be 10 times faster), and adds enhanced features. The big news at SSL was the unveiling of the MT Production (MTP) digital mixer. Based on the company's latest MT Plus in-line digital console, MTP features snapshot reset, flexible subgroup busing and multiformat surround sound capabilities, but in a compact package for multitrack TV, remote truck and music/entertainment applications. Sharing the MT Series' analog console-style ergonomics, the MTP has one-knob-per-function design, along with the HS control processor, an in-line mixing architecture and simultaneous 5.1 surround sound outs. In TV production applications, MTP offers clean feed buses, mix-minus outs and multitrack backup capability. Its analog side was designed to exceed the performance of SSL's SL 9000 J Series console.
SOLID STATE LOGIC AVANT UPGRADE
April 2001—SSL announces new software and hardware features for the Avant digital post/film console. Version 4 software includes PanPoint panning, which allows a panning path to be designed on the console bit pad, and SuperGrouper, which can link signal controls such as pans and EQ. DCTM (Directly Controlled Tape Machine) provides synchronizer-free support for parallel tape machine control, while a RIO Grande I/O option adds up to 12 16-channel, 24-bit ADC/DAC cards and up to four 24-channel AES/EBU cards for a total of 192 analog I/Os. Virtual Paddles uses existing physical paddle switches for additional monitoring and recorder control. RIO Grande I/O and MADI interface options are also offered for the Aysis Air and Aysis Air Mobile digital broadcast consoles.
SOLID STATE LOGIC G+ CLASSIC
March 2001—Solid State Logic intros a special Classic configuration of the famous SL 4000 to include the latest sonic improvements of the G+, combined with a return to the original appearance of the E Series, with its black “Raven” finish. Standard features include moving-fader and VCA-based automation, Total Recall technology, LCR panning, additional aux buses, and sidechain and control linking of multiple outputs. The Classic is available in frame sizes from 48 to 64 channels, with a choice of E or G Series EQ and optional packages to extend multichannel capabilities, and machine control requirements can be tailored to the specific customer needs.
SOLID STATE LOGIC AXIOM-MT UPDATES
February 2001—Solid State Logic announces new hardware options and software for the Axiom-MT digital multitrack console. Hardware options now include the Super Analogue mic preamp, and a hot-swappable digital linear motor fader featuring virtual detents and a four-character LED display. Version 2.2 software offers a choice of new EQ profiles, signal latency management tools, new automation features and new metering options.
SOLID STATE LOGIC AXIOM-MT V. 2.2
October 2000—Axiom-MT's V2.2 release brings new features to the world's only digital multitrack console with a traditional control surface. These include EQ setup options, allowing operators a choice of EQ profiles, latency management tools to compensate for delayed signal paths when using external inserts, and surround panning from small and large faders using SSL's unique PanPoint system. MT V2.2 also offers individually selectable stereo channels and sweet-spot control of all channels plus MIDI devices.
SOLID STATE LOGIC SL9000 UPDATE
June 1999—At AES Munich, Solid State Logic demonstrated new V4 software for its SL9000 flagship analog desk. V4 adds extended machine control, with revisions to parallel machine control and automatic ID'ing/configuration for controlling serial transports. Other enhancements include automatic file version handling, a simplified user interface, timecode masking and offsetting, while expanded grouping flexibility eases 4-channel panning with increased control of 5.1 mixes.
SOLID STATE LOGIC AVANT
June 1999—At NAB, Solid State Logic showed the largest digital console ever exhibited at a trade show: an 18-foot, three-operator Avant with 384 inputs and more than 1,000 signal paths. SSL also announced that Atlanta's Crawford Post ordered a 24-fader, 96-channel Avant for its new facility, as part of a large-scale networking and system integration plan.
