SMART AV SMART CONSOLE VERSION 1.5.1
September 2006—Smart AV (www.smartav.net) announced V. 1.5.1 software for its Smart Console, adding new features such as scene management, solo grouping, “smart metering” channel modes, floating ARC and more. But the big news is support for Apple's Logic 7.2, Pro Tools 7 (via HUI), Merging Pyramix 5 and Steinberg Nuendo 3.2. For the live market, V. 1.5.1 also offers Smart AV control for the MediaMatrix Nion engines.

December 2004—The Smart Console Elite 96 control surface from Smart AV boasts a groundbreaking ergonomic design that offers control over a bevy of DAW features. The Smart Console incorporates patented ARC technology, which uses a physical arc located above the controls to represent all of the channels on a traditional long console. By touching the arc at any location, the desired channel and the channels surrounding it immediately appear in front of the sound engineer. With this single touch, 800 previously out-of-reach controls snap to within reach. The hand-written channel description is transferred to the digital scribble strip in front of the user. The brainchild of Aussie designer Michael Stavrou, it currently works with systems from Pyramix/Merging, Emagic/Logic, Yamaha/DME 64N, Fairlight/QDC and Klotz Digital/Vadis. It's distributed in the U.S. by the ATI Group.
