ROLLS MX56C
November 2005—The Rolls (www.rolls.com) MX56c ($110) desktop mixer is an upgrade from the MX56s and features four inputs, including a mono ¼-inch line input, a stereo ⅛-inch (3.5mm) line input, a balanced XLR microphone input with phantom power and a stereo RCA line input. For output, the unit features stereo RCA outs, a front panel stereo ⅛-inch (3.5mm) headphone output and a ¼-inch unbalanced mono line-level out. The unit is powered via a 9V battery or the Rolls PS27 12VDC adapter (included).
ROLLS MX422 FIELD MIXER
April 2005—The Rolls MX422 is a 4-channel mic/line mixer with balanced XLR analog I/O, a 1/4-inch stereo aux input and TRS stereo monitor input. Each input has a trim, phantom power, low-cut filter, pan and level controls. Other features include dual-VU meters, a 20Hz slate tone/mic, 1kHz setup tone, onboard limiting, and 1/4- and 1/8-inch stereo headphone outs. Main outputs are stereo XLRs with switchable -30dB pad. Power is via two 9-volts, and a set of backup batteries can be switched during operation without signal loss. Retail is $599, with canvas case.
ROLLS MX152 MIXMATE
October 2004—For light mixing duties, the Rolls MX152 is an economical half-rackspace unit that accepts two microphone and three stereo inputs. A variety of features—such as phantom power, input summing and channel ducking—is switchable via a series of six DIP switches. Price: $130.
ROLLS MX124 PROMIX IV
October 2003—The MX124 is a 4-channel stereo mic mixer with four XLR balanced inputs and two transformer-balanced XLR outputs. It has level and pan controls for each channel, as well as individual phantom power and low-cut switches. Tip Ring Sleeve 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch (3/5 mm) outputs have been provided for either headphone/earphone monitoring, or for use as auxiliary stereo outputs. U.S. retail is $200.
